ASUS RT-AC88U Routers (RT-AC88U)
One of the best routers in the world, ASUS RT-AC88U Routers (RT-AC88U) delivers the speed you crave and security you need. The combined data rate of 3167 Mbps with whole-home extended coverage and Smart Connect ensure fast, stable connectivity for all your Wi-Fi devices.
The path gaming packets take once they leave your network affects ping time and stability. Inefficient hops lead to inconsistent ping and packet loss. The RT-AC88U features a built-in WTFast client to access the GPN: a private network of route-optimized servers to ensure consistently low ping times.
Wireless-AC88U Tri-band Gigabit Router with 3100 Mbps throughput for smooth up to 4K/UHD video playback, support MU-MIMO, Ai Protection, Link aggregation with teaming ports and Smart Connect
The AC 88U is replacing my RT-N66 router as my main router. With the advent of 4K streaming, Plex, IP Cameras, NAS boxes, Rokus and backups, I felt that I needed to have a more robust router as at certain times it seemed that my N66 couldn't keep up. Not very often but enough to make we want to upgrade my 3 year old amazing router. The key areas that I wanted upgraded was dual core processor for faster processing, the Link Aggregation feature, AC compliant, and a stronger wifi signal throughout the house. These aspects were provided with the 88U.Previous routers allowed 802.3ad, but only had 4 ports which then provided only 2 more, this usually made the user buy another switch to hang off the side, it worked to be sure, but I never really understood why they couldn't make one with 8 ports, now they have and I am impressed. Ports 1 and 2 are designated for Link Aggregation and my Synology NAS also allows this feature. It's easy to setup and while I haven't tested it thoroughly, it is working and I have 2 channels for data input and output from my NAS.The firmware that came with the router was 3004_380_664 and when you check for an update it said it was the latest one, but on the Asus web page, there is a newer version to improve Wifi speeds and WTFast. 380_858. I downloaded it and applied it.You can check on Small Network Forums for more info on the 88U and overall I am very impressed. It enhanced my wireless signals throughout the house by -10 db from the N66. I am using my N66 now as an AP and have more signal than I need. I feel that it is a great upgrade.
This router is great Router Asus makes great hardware & software the user interface is easy to configure. The Range covers 2,070 sqft of my home 180 mbs connection wired & wireless on 5ghz band.Ai protection: Helps blocks malicious attack to your pc or any connected device.Ai cloud: I have a 4TB drive work great i can access my files any where any time on the go!Time Machine backup: Works great for backup Mac to external hard drive.Download master: Very useful tool that lets you download torrents directly from the external hard drive even when your computer is offline which is great! It has 8 port switch with link aggregation 2gbps for NAS & 1.4 GHz Dual core cpu & 512mb of Ram.Cons : The only issue is USB 3.0 speeds are slow about 36 mbs from external hard.
Works great. Both 2.4 and 5 channels have no issues. Make sure modem does not have issues with this and vice versa. I purchased a netgear cm600 and did not work with my older linksys router which caused dropped connections every 30 minutes. After installing this new router,I've had Zero dropped connections. My speed test went from 70mb to 120mb after the installation. Quite happy! Thanks
